Why are there little white specks in my Organic Nipple Butter, Organic Diaper Balm or Organic Perineal Balm?
Earth Mama balms are made with organic, plant-based ingredients so the texture can vary. The natural plant butters can sometimes solidify, so warming the balm between your fingers before application should do the trick to melt everything back together.
Why is there a hole in my balm?
It’s not uncommon for this to happen! It’s a natural result of the balm cooling in the jar after the pour. Rest assured, it is sold by weight so you will get every bit of the goodness.
Do I need to wash the Organic Nipple Butter off before I breastfeed?
No, it's safe for both you and your little one.
Does your Organic Nipple Butter contain lanolin?
No. Some mamas have concerns about wool allergies and pesticide exposure with lanolin, and we strive to make sure Earth Mama products are as worry-free as possible.
All the seals on your products and website are confusing. What do they all mean?
We totally get it! That’s why we put together a helpful web page with all the information about each of the seals, our certifications, and sustainability efforts.
Do you use artificial fragrance, SLS, parabens, phthalates, or synthetic preservatives?
No, and we never have.
Do Earth Mama products expire?
The date on Earth Mama products, typically found at the bottom of the containers, is considered a “Best By” date, which is less of an expiration date and more of a freshness guide. We recommend storing your Earth Mama products in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. If a product is past its “Best By” date, you should always use your own best judgment. If the product smells “off,” don’t use it.
What kind of plastic do you use?
Earth Mama containers are made with non-leaching PET plastic which is BPA free and has a long track record for safety and ease of recycling. We see babies every day who love to put the jars and bottles in their mouths, and we know that containers inevitably end up bumping and slipping around changing tables and bathrooms too. This led us to packaging our products in tumble and teething resistant bottles and jars made of non-leaching PET because of its long track record of safety and ease of recycling.
All Earth Mama Lip Balms are packaged in 100% plastic-free containers, and Earth Mama Deodorants are packaged in Eco Smart containers, which begin to degrade in days, not decades.
We also partner with rePurpose Global, where together, we calculate all the plastic used in Earth Mama’s products and operations, then fund the ethical recovery and processing of the same amount of plastic waste from our environment.
I have some leftover Earth Mama products. What else can I use them for?
Lots of Earth Mama products have alternative uses. Take a look here!
My soap is getting stuck in the pump. What can I do?
Because Earth Mama soaps are castile based, it can sometimes get dried up in the nozzle. Sometimes it takes a good long rinse of the pump with hot water to get going again. You can also try putting the skinny end of the pump tube in hot water and pump it through the nozzle for a few minutes.
Are your products gluten free?
While all Earth Mama products are made without gluten-containing ingredients, they are not certified gluten-free. Each product’s full ingredient list is available on the website.
How to heat up booby tubes without a microwave?
Booby Tubes® can be warmed in a conventional at 100°F for as long as 20 minutes. They can be used several times during the day at that temperature.
Do you ship to Canada?
Earth Mama products are available to our Canadian friends at Amazon.ca.
How can I get the best results from Earth Mama Organic Herbal Tea?
It’s easy! Pour boiling water over the tea bag and steep for 5 minutes to extract all the herbal-ly goodness. You can then drink it at whatever temperature you’d like, even iced!
When I squeezed my Earth Mama Mineral Sunscreen, Organic Baby Face Nose & Cheek Balm or Eczema Cream, I just got oil and no product! Is there something wrong with it?
Not at all! It’s totally normal for plant butters and oils to separate. We suggest setting the tube in the sun or in some warm water for a bit and then giving it a good knead to blend them together.
My deodorant seems to have an odd texture.
Because Earth Mama Deodorants are held together with organic coconut oil, they prefer room temperature. It sounds like yours got a little warm somewhere along the way. Mending it back to shape & popping it in the fridge will get back to a more familiar texture.
Is it normal to still sweat a bit when I’m using Earth Mama Deodorant?
Earth Mama Deodorants are not antiperspirants, so you will still sweat, which is actually good for your body (your lymph nodes are thanking you!). It does take a little time for your body to adjust, but once it does, our customers report that they actually sweat less. Here’s a helpful article about making the switch to a clean, non-toxic deodorant that might help.
I’d like to try Earth Mama before purchasing a full-sized product. Do you offer samples?

Can you use the baby wash as shampoo?
Earth Mama’s castile-based calendula baby & body washes are formulated for a head-to-toe clean. Castile soap can be a bit much for some grown up hair, but it’s great for that fine, short baby hair.
Can I use Earth Mama Baby products on myself?
Yes! They’re formulated to be safe for baby’s sensitive skin, so they’re safe and effective for mamas, too.
