DIY Sugar Body Scrub Recipe

A sugar body scrub is always a wonderful way to exfoliate your skin while keeping it extra moisturized. But during those cold weather months, it's pretty much essential. Here's a simple DIY sugar body scrub recipe that's only three ingredients, including Earth Mama's Castile-Based Soap that's safe and effective for the whole family. Whether your skin needs a little extra TLC or you're looking for a wonderful DIY gift idea, this sugar body scrub will have you counting down the minutes to your next shower.

How to Make a DIY Sugar Body Scrub

Ingredients:

*We used turbinado cane sugar but you could also use coconut sugar. The larger the grain the rougher the texture.

Directions:

  1. Pour the coconut oil and soap into a bowl or jar.
  2. Add sugar, adjusting the amount to the level of moisture you want in it. Less is more soupy consistency, more is easier to spread.
  3. Store in an air tight container. Lasts 1-2 weeks or longer if you keep it in the fridge.

If you're not a fan of coconut oil, you can use grapeseed oil or avocado oil. And this recipe calls for Earth Mama's Calming Lavender Soap, however, you could also use Wild Peppermint Hand & Body Wash for a tingly effect or for a great foot scrub treatment, followed by a heavy slather of Organic Baby Face Nose & Cheek Balm and then socks overnight. Your feet will be thanking you the next day.

How to Use Body Scrub

Once you've got your jar of DIY Sugar Body Scrub, just scoop a tablespoon or so into your hand while you're in the shower, then scrub your skin with your hand or a loofah for extra exfoliation. Use as much as needed on all parts of your body, though be careful around sensitive parts (including your eyes). Rinse with hot or warm water, then towel your skin dry. Follow up with an Earth Mama Lotion, like Calming Lavender, or an Earth Mama Oil, such as Belly Oil or Calendula Baby Oil, if your skin needs extra support during the dry, cold weather months.
